New Concrete Plant Under Construction
A fully automated ready mix concrete plant costing 30000 dollars is under construction by the Superior Concrete Company of Frederick and Le Gore on Maryland Route 335 at the Grove Road intersection. Owned by Jay Kline, Richard Kline, and William Le Gore, construction began two weeks ago with a ground breaking ceremony and aims to be complete by January 15. The Evergreen Point site south of Md 335 will surpass Frederick and Le Gore plants in output when in full production, doubling capacity through automated systems. Parts were assembled in Rockville and transported.

Fire destroys nursing home. 20 dead in Indiana blaze
Fourteen patients were rescued from a 60 year old wooden nursing home after a fast moving fire trapped residents on the second floor. Nine bodies were recovered as walls collapsed and stairs failed, while fire crews fought water shortages and ice to supply pumps.
