Stone Sold As Coal From Boston Dealer At Ten Per Ton
Boston dispatch reports a dealer sold stones as coal at ten dollars a ton. A bag shown to the Massachusetts commission on the high cost of living was declared ordinary rock by a commissioner. The dealer claimed possession from wholesalers and offered no remedy. Three coal shipments were returned to wholesalers due to slate content as investigators probe. Also, 250 elk hunters and vehicles were blocked seven days by heavy snow in the upper Gallatin Canyon, Montana, before forty sleighs and wagons emerged.
