The torpedo boat 509 ran aground on Cambridge Ledge near Cowes Isle of Wight as it maneouvred. Fire broke out and the Bembridge lifeboat reached the scene rescuing the crew. The vessel is reported as a complete wreck.
Boston reports the will of Tate Patrick Monahan of Charlestown was found sealed in a red envelope at the bottom of a wash tub after his death in September. The document designates a $260000 estate with $60000 to brother John Monahan of Chicago and $60000 to sister-in-law Margaret Mullen of Boston, plus $20000 to three sisters in Ireland and smaller sums to nephews and nieces.
Henry Collie known as Kentucky Joe, a reputed leader of a post office robbery gang, was arrested in Bluefield West Virginia by local officers with secret service aid. The 60 year old is said to have operated in Virginia Kentucky and Tennessee for over three years and boasts jail breaks. He carried over $200 at arrest and has boasted no jail can hold him.
