Five youths charged with marijuana possession from the county's largest narcotics raid on Oct. 2 were placed on supervised probation by Magistrate Stanely Y. Bennett. The youths include Burke Riggs Gary and Rickie Clyde Wolfe both under verdict with six month and indefinite probation terms respectively, plus Bernard Marcus Simmons Byron Lee Hawkins and Bruce Thomas Joy on probation after verdict with a 90 day jail sentence set aside. The magistrate noted probation offers a chance to prove it can be lawfully upheld. Under current law possession can carry up to one year in prison or a $1000 fine, or both.
