Kier To Die In Gas Chamber

Baltimore Governor McKeldin refused a stay of execution for Carl Daniel Kier, condemned for the murder of Baltimore society matron Mrs. John H. Bogst Jr. Kier will die in the Maryland state penitentiary gas chamber at fatefully set time. The governor cited lack of extenuating circumstances and mental incapacity, and noted psychiatrists found Kier mentally responsible for the slaying. Kier’s trials in Towson and Frederick upheld the guilty verdicts after appeals.
