U S Steel Chief Warns America On World Power
Roger M Blough, chair of U S Steel, warns the United States must stay strong and well equipped to maintain global industrial leadership. He notes U S steel output rose to 112 million tons by 1957 while world output climbed to 209 million tons, reducing America’s share from 66 to 30 percent and reserves from 80 to 13 percent of known totals. He argues only a capable American industry can meet foreign competition and keep the nation as the world’s leading producer.
