Winners of the American Heritage Essay contest by the Yellow Springs Lions Club were honored. Samantha Kirk now Thomas Johnson High, Andrew Russo St. John's Middle, Ethel Braurer St. John's teacher, Elmer Breeden, and other named members received $100 savings bonds. They advance to compete with Lions Club winners from other regions.
The Christ Reformed United Church of Christ and Middletown leaders survey residents on a potential farmers market in the church parking lot. An eight-member Exploratory Committee seeks input by January 4, with surveys sent to the church or dropped at the church office. If interest and vendors align, a market could launch next summer.
