Myersville fire premium drop after ISO rating change
Myersville residents will see dramatic reductions in insurance premiums after the town’s ISO rating remains Class 9. ISO official Wayne S. Press noted the Dec. 9 letter explains how homeowner and sprinklered residential policies may be affected and that some premiums depend on building construction and occupancy. The town also did not accept a county contract to run water and sewer plants and set a public hearing for planning and zoning fees on Jan. 11. Annexation of .85 acres to Myersville was granted for Roy E. Rippeon Jr. and hydrant flushing is planned for the week of Dec. 20 pending weather.

Twelve D C officers arrested on bribery and drug charges
Twelve Washington D C police officers were arrested in an undercover operation with an FBI agent posing as a Miami drug dealer. U S Attorney Eric Holder said eleven were taken at a downtown hotel and one at the Fifth District headquarters. Two Men Injured In Md 67 Head On Collision
Two men were seriously hurt in a head on crash on Md 67 near Gapland. John R Hobson 17 from Knoxville and Adolfo Salgavero 44 of Silver Spring were listed in fair condition at Washington County Hospital. Salgavero drove a stolen delivery van north in the southbound lane, colliding with Hobson in a 1983 VW van. They were flown to the hospital by state police helicopters after the 11 49 am accident. The van contained $20 000 worth of cigarettes. The case remains open.

Indiana couple indicted for insurance fraud in Maryland
A federal grand jury charged Mary C. Dennie and Carl Dennie with wire and mail fraud in a Freder ick insurance scheme. Dennie, arrested in Albuquerque, allegedly used nine aliases, obtained a $95,000 boat policy for the Sly Fox, and filed a false loss claim claiming a Gulf of Mexico sinking. If convicted, they face up to five years per count and fines up to $250,000.
