Montgomery County considers new taxes to cover 175 million deficit
A special task force recommends a monthly 16 dollar tax on office parking and 5 dollar on other commercial spaces to help close a six year shortfall. Land in development districts would be assessed at anticipated fully developed value, separate from county tax. Debate notes state funding cuts from state and federal levels and calls for developers to contribute. Officials warn the deficit may be larger as capital costs loom.
