Maryland to gain 118 million windfall in 1987 budget
Maryland Comptroller Louis L. Goldstein reports an estimated 118.4 million in unanticipated revenues for the 1987 fiscal year to Gov. Hughes. The windfall, from lottery gains, real estate transfer taxes, and construction activity, will aid all 23 counties and Baltimore City and reduce tax increase prospects. The funds may finance housing aid and easing savings and loan industry cleanups, with remaining thrifts under conservatorship.
