McNamara Stock Sales Signal Shift in Pentagon Politics
General Motors and Ford connections frame the shift as McNamara sells 24 250 Ford shares plus 30 000 Ford option and 100 Scott Paper shares while stepping down as a director. The move targets potential conflicts of interest seen during Eisenhower’s era and echoes Kennedy era personnel discussions. Meany Cooley Bradley and Udall are noted in cabinet speculation as plans unfold. Reports filed show Johnson and Miller each spent one dollar less than received in campaign funds.
