Three Small Forest Fires Over Weekend
Three small forest fires broke out over the weekend as State Forester Herman reported. A blaze a mile and a half west of Point of Rocks burned over nine acres on the Abrim Hemp property, started likely by a railroad locomotive. It was controlled by Warden William Pulten and railroad workers. Saturday saw two fires one mile south of Burkittsville, one quarter and one acre in size, extinguished by wardens and volunteers. Monday a fire one mile west of Mt Briar scorched a quarter acre, blamed on a neglected spark as woods remain very dry and susceptible to fire.
