Washington reports that Senator George of Georgia will request the Senate Finance Committee to end a federal tax on 117 million gallons of whiskey stored over four years to relieve a nationwide shortage. The move would cut the tax-free storage period from eight to four years, pushing older whiskey onto the market and restocking exhausted stores. The hearings will also hear hotel operator Samuel Horwitz who declined black market deals, and witnesses Alfred Driscoll and William Lentz.
