West Virginia Supreme Court reversed a six month jail sentence for United Mine Workers leader Van A. New York December 14 The magistrate discharged all defendants including Gene Tunney and theatre manager Joseph Emmett, finding the boxing law violation proceedings not in good faith. Tunney and Emmett said they would sue James A Farley, Boxing Commission chairman, for false arrest.

Dr J J Rives former pastor of Trinity M E Church South will speak at the church sixtieth anniversary service tonight at 8. Sey Pemtilban, 21, a French light heavyweight, died at St Francis Hospital from a fractured skull after a fight with Eimer Friedman of Boston at the state armory. Friedman remained held on $3,000 bond on a charge of manslaughter as the inquest continued.
An eastbound train derailment occurred with no injuries reported to Schwab and others. A witness described a chef and a pile up of empty cars near the track as onlookers watched the scene.
The Altar Guild of the wide Reformed church held a meeting and social Monday to install officers for the coming year. A committee was chosen to plan Christmas activities with chairpersons named. A large turnout enjoyed programs including songs by Mrs Sherman P. Bowers piano solo by Miss Margarete Nol and a talk by Miss Miriam A. Apple on her European trip. Miss Mildred Thomas won a contest. Refreshments followed. The event committee included Mrs Eleanor H. Talk Miss Elizabeth DeLashmatt E G Kefauver and Miss Katharina Reimsbar.
A Norfolk and Western main line freight derailment blocked trains at Hobbs West Virginia after a heavy fog. Seventeen cars of four fast freights derailed, causing damage but no injuries among the crew. Traffic diverted over the nearby line as crews clear wreckage.
