Four Violins Up For Sale In New London Estate Sale
Four old violins may headline a public sale of the William H. Bell estate in New London today. Three instruments bear Stradivarius inscriptions with dates 1722 1330 and 1721 while a Jacobus Stainer piece from Czechoslovakia lacks a visible date. Bell’s nephew George W Bell is administrator and arranged the sale. A Hood College professor called genuine Stradivarius odds slim and valued such violins at $10 000 to $25 000 if authentic.

Worker Caught In Housing Job Cave-in
At about 3 p.m. yesterday a housing project on Sixth street saw William Ripton of LeGore pinned in a cave-in while laying water and sewer pipes in a ditch. A call alerted Richard F. Kline, contractor. Ripton was freed after about a half hour with only a skin injury and a skinned leg reported. United ambulance responded to the scene.
