William Allen was hanged at Uniontown jail for the April 26, 1901, Wynn works crime. About 1,504 spectators witnessed the execution after Allen fatally shot Hiram McMillan, who died from a gun wound while trying to defend his wife. Allen uttered "My God" as he ascended the scaffold.
