Detox center eyed for old Frederick jail site
Frederick Rescue Mission and the Frederick County Alcoholism Advisory Council proposed converting the old county jail on South Street into a combined mission and detoxification center. The detox unit would use the house portion while the jail section would host a men’s mission, freeing other spaces for women and children. They stressed the need to aid alcohol patients on rehab waiting lists, though some questioned a merged facility.
