I-70 To Be Opened By 1967
Interstate 70 between Frederick and Hagerstown will be open by fall 1967, announced John B. Funk, chair man of the State Commission. The project shortens the earlier 1968 date due to rapid right of way acquisitions and proceeds without General Assembly approval. Three new freeway sections in western Maryland will also begin next spring with 70 percent federal funding and 30 percent state money.
