Real Estate Board Talks Taxes and Watchdog Committee
Real estate transactions in Frederick County totaled about 19 million dollars in the past year placing the area among the county’s largest businesses. George B. Delaplaine Jr. urged Realtors to actively engage in government matters and form a watchdog committee to monitor budgets and potentially rising property taxes. The group renamed itself Freder ick County Board of Realtors and welcomed George Carter. A separate Cumberland hearing concerns a damage suit by Monterey Co. Inc. against the City of Cumberland and the B&O Railroad over water intrusion in 1954.
