Farmers Need Workers and Machinery to Lift Output
Cauicage Dec 16 The American Farm Bureau Federation said farmers have adequate skilled labor and more machinery to reach record 1943 food production. Delegates urged Congress to investigate the Office of Price Administration, revise price ceilings, cut farm program costs, end the eight hour week, reduce red tape, and opposed Tugwell’s Puerto Rico stewardship. They called for stable farm prices to spur production while paring subsidies and criticized OPA administration and rationing as overregulated and costly. A thorough Congressional inquiry of the CPA was urged and reforms to fix the program outlined.
