Trees Planted At U S 15 40 Interchange
The ceremony marked the 111th anniversary of the American oil industry as 111 flowering crabapple trees were planted at the U S 15 U S 40 interchange. Donated by the Maryland Petroleum Association, the effort since 1959 has totaled 11 266 roadside trees. Leaders from Humble Oil Ref ining Co state roads and garden groups attended. A luncheon honored David N Anthony of Gaithersburg for outstanding landscaping in the 1970 Service Station Beautification Contest. The association also awarded Anthony 100 dollars and two runners up 50 dollars each to Fred E Hall Towson and Harry W Blackburn Salisbury.
