Reparatés Makes a 35 Mile Per Hour Fire Engine
A Frederick parade of progress greeted the arrival of the new LaFrance engine for the Junior Fire Company this morning. The six ton front drive tractor truck, powered by a 90 horsepower motor, achieves 35 miles per hour and features solid rubber tires and adjustable brakes. Harold Jahe of the factory demonstrated its mobility through city streets and into the hall where the apparatus will be housed. The apparatus cost about 4300 dollars, with the hose truck recently equipped at 3300 dollars. The engine, radiator, and drive system create a novel appearance, with the tractor acting as the front drive and steering component.
