Elderly couple killed in Montgomery County crashes
An elderly couple en route to Holy Cross Hospital died when their car was broadsided on Georgia Avenue by a northbound vehicle. Dorothy Goldstein, 69, and Joseph Goldstein, 80, were declared dead after the 6 a.m. collision. The other driver, Juan Mota, 33, was treated and released. a passenger, Marco Lopez, 30, was admitted. A separate Bethesda crash on Old Georgetown Road killed an unidentified man and critically injured two others, with alcohol cited as a factor. power was out to about 2,200 homes during the incident.

Fire damages upper Montgomery apartment and home
A fire starting around 8 20 a m confined to Sophie Letvin's fourth floor apartment 403 at Elizabeth House Fenwick Lane Silver Spring leaving her in critical condition at Medstar burn unit Washington Hospital Center. Fire officials said several residents were checked for smoke inhalation but none other were hospitalized. A separate fire near Poolesville at 19236 Hempstone Ave caused $35000 damage to the utility and family rooms.

County plans tank to curb waste oil contamination

Elevator dispute leaves man shot in Silver Spring
A 31 year old Silver Spring man Juan Francisco Video is in fair condition after being shot in the head and a chest twice during a 2:20 am Sunday elevator argument at Summit Hill apartments 8504 16th St. The unidentified Hispanic suspect fled on foot. The victim was hospitalized at Suburban Hospital.

Hunter killed on final day of the season
A 21 year old man, Michael Anthony Reeves of Silver Spring, was shot and killed during the final day of hunting near Laytonsville. Police say the fatal blast occurred about 5:20 p.m. when another hunter mistook him for game and fired a shotgun in a wooded area. Reeves died at the scene and the shooter’s identity was not released.
