Order Signed To Liquidate Phoenix Savings and Loan
In Baltimore Circuit Court an order was signed to liquidate Phoenix Savings and Loan Association unless a satisfactory reorganization plan is submitted within 30 days. Judge Reuben Oppenheimer issued the order, based on recommendations by Richard W. Case, attorney for the association’s conservator Albert W. Ward. An accounting firm audit by Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Co. becomes part of the court record, cited to show a deficit of 142,839 dollars and the inability to liquidate and pay all obligations. Ward, named conservator last July 20, also administers a new savings and loan regulatory law under which the liquidation proceeds.
