An Ijamsville man Charles W. Simmons and his wife Elizabeth M. Simmons were injured when another car rear ended their vehicle on U S 4 near three miles east of here. The other driver Frank B Ferrell of Baltimore faces reckless driving charges. Both cars were demolished and the couple were treated at Frederick Memorial Hospital and released.

17 Injured In Series Of Maryland Crashes
Seventeen people were injured in a string of Maryland highway crashes, including eight hurt in a Howard County head-on collision near West Friendship around 11 p.m. Among the seriously injured: Donnie Lee Bowling a week-old girl and Irene Seal Bowling both of Glenwood Maryland. Two men in a Ridgeville Carroll County crash near U.S. 40 were critically hurt Daniel G Coates and Kenneth D Wilson. A pole collision on Maryland 35 at Ellerslie hospitalized Denzil Leydig.
