May Vaccination Boosts Tuberculosis Prevention Hints
Chicago December 7 A new vaccine method using tuberculosis bacteria killed by suffocation shows promise for human use. Dr. Truman Squire Potter reports success in rabbits, with far fewer lesions and deaths after exposure to live bacteria. The approach uses moist, body-temperature asphyxia in a sealed chamber and suggests vaccination plus sanitation could greatly improve protection. Also reports a large butchering at the Houck home near Pearl with three hogs, seven cans of lard, and a turkey dinner. Major General Alvan C. Gillem Jr reassigned from command at Fort Knox to an important new posting with Major General Charles L. Scott succeeding him at the Armored Replacement Training Center.
