Colonel Duncan B. Cooper, father of Robin Cooper, appears in Nashville court on December 8 charged with murder for the November 9 shooting of ex Senator Edward W. Carmack. Robin Cooper was with him at the time of the incident.
Colonel Guncan B. Cooper and John D. Sharp, former sheriff, are placed on trial for complicity in the Carmack shooting. Robin Cooper who fired the shot was wounded and under treatment and to be tried later. The incident followed attacks on Colonel Cooper by Carmack in a Tennessee newspaper.
Theodore Frey, jailed after a North Side jewelry store break in, received a ten year penitentiary term. Edward Jones admitted false names and refused to reveal his home to shield his wife and child from disgrace. He claimed reform and a troubled past drove the crime but offered no defense.

In Richmond a chancery court decree assigns about 2.5 million dollars in land in Virginia West Virginia and Kentucky to D. W. Armstrong once counsel for Mrs Maybrick and her mother. The ruling sets aside deeds and orders Armstrong to account for lands and money handled as their attorney. The case centers on alleged land sales and inflated claims tied to Florence Maybrick and Baroness von Roque, with a long dispute spanning over a decade.
