Wounded Marines Return From Hayti on Connecticut
The battleship Connecticut docked in Philadelphia with marines returning from Hayti. Twenty wounded Marines, still recovering, were sent to the Naval Hospital. One company of forty Marines with two machine guns repelled 200 insurgents. another faced 700 attackers and endured heavy fire. In the Fort Rivière action, Marines surprised seventy insurgents, leaving sixty five dead.
