Mitchell Proposes National Corrections Academy
In Williamsburg Virginia General John Mitchell unveiled a plan to establish a National Corrections Academy to modernize the penal system. The academy would train correctional personnel at all levels and cooperate with federal state and local authorities. Mitchell also announced two federal projects a national justice architecture clearing house at the University of Illinois and a correctional education clearing house. He urged minority hiring in corrections and possible deferring prosecution for community oriented programs.

Two Thurmont Boys Injured In Accident
Thurmont youths were hospitalized after their car ran off Keysville Road east of Emmitsburg, fell into a ditch and struck a tree head on. Driver Donald Wayne Blower and passenger Robert John Fisher were admitted for injuries. Blower's 1964 truck was demolished.

Cambodian Army Retreat Near Kom Penh Amid Casualties
North Vietnamese forces pressed Cambodian troops into a retreat from a district town 16 miles northwest of Phnom Penh. The combat left about 50 Cambodians dead or wounded and another 50 missing or forced to flee after two days of fierce fighting. About 50 survivors reached safety at Phnom Base outpost.
