Confusion Defeats Maryland Safety Legislation at Forum
At a Maryland traffic safety forum in Court House the group heard that many safety bills failed not by lawmakers but by confusion. Edgar P. Silver urged two main goals for next session driver training and a unified point system with suspensions for two moving violations. Senator Jacob Ramsburg signaled a chemical test for drunken drivers, while officials and educators pressed for broader driver education programs. Five hundred sixteen people died in traffic accidents in the state last year.
