Hood board discusses scholarships at Hood College
The Presidential Leadership Scholarships program funds up to $3,000 yearly for transfer students from local community colleges. Since 1986, area businesses have contributed over $800,000. 24 students were awarded this year. Local leaders, including Hood graduates, support the campaign, with plans for 2002 and involvement from Brews Alley, Legg Mason, the Chamber, and others. For details contact Joy Derr at Hood College.

Donors threaten to pull funds if Glendening seeks UM job
Two Mary land foundation donors say they will retract about 1 million dollars in gifts if Gov. Parris Glendening pursues the University of Maryland chancellorship. Glendening says he would be honored to be considered, though not an official applicant. Ethics experts question the propriety of a governor seeking a system head appointed by boards he controls.
