Accounting By RFC Is Sought In Senate Row
Washington December 3 a sharp Senate skirmish revolved around an accounting of Reconstruction Finance Corporation funds spent by the BEW. The minority sought a formal financial audit while leaders pressed a House bill to boost RFC borrowing authority by 3 billion dollars. An amendment barring BEW and other agencies from receiving funds without RFC board approval was reported agreed to as a compromise to advance the bill next week. Senator Danaher urged the measure to curb executive power, while McNary blocked action and McCarran objected to moving a Mexican claims conference report.

Auto Industry Faces Material And Labor Strains
Detroit December reports show C. E. Wilson of General Motors warns materials and manpower shortages restrain war production pace rather than reduce output. He notes postwar autos mirror 1942 models, requiring design and testing time and predicting no early mood decline without engineering changes. Field reports also cite a fatal spider bite affecting Lewis Rigin and a family accident involving Roy Garner and relatives in Maryland, with hospital treatment described.
