First non government plate honors Maryland veterans
Maryland grants a special license plate for veterans including 16000 eligible drivers and 216909 wounded veterans. The $12 plate requires medal documentation and can be applied for at any Motor Vehicle Administration office. The idea came from Grant Acker of Glen Burnie, state adjutant of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, whose group pushed for the bill since 1986 and it became law this year. Think of the honored Marylanders when you see one.
