Make-up rabies clinic scheduled

A make-up rabies clinic will run from 1 to 4 am on Sunday December 6 at the Lion's Club on Waterloo Road in Ellicott City for pet owners who missed the Nov. 1 health department clinics. Revaccination targets dogs and cats previously inoculated with Norden Radguard TC in May 1987 and November 1986. The clinic, open to the public, costs $4 per inoculation, but postcard holders from the department regarding Rabguard TC will be exempt. Regular clinics are planned for next spring. For details call the bureau of environmental health at 1461 9944.

Teen hit and run suspects traced to Middletown teens

Police linked a Wednesday hit and run on Main Street Middletown to three teens in Fountaindale subdivision after a parked car was struck and pushed onto a curb. An 11 year old was charged with negligent driving and leaving the scene. a 17 year old and two 16 year old passengers were later identified as suspects. A state police helicopter aided in the search before a partial car tag led to the suspects.

Weather outlook for Western Maryland and mountains

Western Maryland counties face tonight a windy largely cloudy and cold night with a 40 percent chance of flurries and lows 25 to 30. Saturday remains windy and cold with a 30 percent chance of flurries and highs in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Maryland mountains expect windy with occasional flurries and lows 15 to 20, Saturday highs in the upper 20s, then 30 percent flurry chances. Yesterday temps varied with Frederick 43 to 30, Westminster 4 to 26, Hagerstown 40 to 30, Cumberland 49 to 30, Oakland 43 to 22. Extended forecast calls for fair but cool Sunday and Monday, possible rain Tuesday, highs in the 40s and overnight mid 20s to low 30s, colder in the mountains.

Midwest storm bolts snow east as Pacific rain spreads inland

An Associated Press report details a large storm dispersing snow from the Midwest into the Northeast while rain and snow advance from the Pacific Coast. Snow advisories reached up to four inches in parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and beyond. winter storm warnings and gale warnings cover New England coasts and northern California, with up to a foot expected in the Sierra Nevada and Lake Tahoe at high elevations. Temperatures across the nation ranged from freezing in the Midwest to 70s in Texas, with regional forecasts for mixed rain and snow from the Carolinas to the Northwest.

Reagan defends signing arms treaty with Soviets
