Appeal alleges Montgomery County schools promoted segregation
Fourteen Blair High School community members filed an appeal with the Maryland State Board of Education claiming the Montgomery County Board of Education deviated from rules, discriminated by race, and acted to increase segregation in the downcounty area. Blair representatives cite actions reversing superintendent recommendations, moving mainly white students toward Blair from Northwood and shifting others to Einstein and Springbrook, risking reduced Blair programs and staffing. The Civil Rights advisory panel will study the impact ahead of a January meeting.
