No Cut In Tax Rate For County
County officials expect no change in the county tax rate for the year starting January 1. Budget reviews show assessable county basis could rise seven to eight million dollars, but added requests and costs may offset any gains. Education and welfare budgets face increases while court house improvements may be pursued with funds yet unclear. Final assessments are pending, and a rate change seems unlikely in either direction.
