Determine Age By Deer Teeth
Solomons Dec 3 The deer hunting season opens in Maryland tomorrow and a sidelight will be a counting of noses Deer noses that is. The experts will do it by checking on a deer's teeth. The idea is to find out whether Maryland's deer herd is increasing or decreasing. They say you can have too many deer. So many in fact that you finally end up with too few. In recent years Maryland's herd has been on the way up. The survey this season will tell what the score is now. Checking stations are to be set up in six counties where it is legal to take deer. At the stations Maryland biologists and game technicians will gaze into the jaws of deer brought down by Free State hunters during the six day season.
