Treasury Announces Savings Bonds Exchange Plan
The Treasury will issue December regulations allowing holders of Series E and unmatured Series F and J bonds to exchange for Series H bonds at current values. The exchange enables certain tax treatment of a portion of redemption value increases and applies to bonds issued up to January 1, 1960, with Series H bonds paying semiannual interest and maturing after ten years in denominations of 500, 1 000, 5 000, and 10 000.
