Engineer Answers Lawmaker Charge on Kent Island Road
Chief Engineer Norman M. Pritchett of the State Roads Commission rebutted Del. Tove of Talbot’s claim that the Romancoke Matapeake road on Kent Island was built to benefit real estate. He cited rising traffic, poor existing roads, and county requests as reasons, noting counts from about 300 to over 700 vehicles daily and a project cost of about 382,265 with land costs around 39,000. The Easton Talbot Chamber had criticized the project as wasteful and urged abandonment.
