Fire fight hampered by sliced hose on Yarmouth Castle
Coast guard inquiry hearing revealed a hose near a hydrant was sliced five to six inches from the faucet delaying firefighting aboard the Yarmouth Castle, which sank in the Bahamas on November 13 with 89 dead. Staff Captain Panagiotis Menegatos testified in Greek, noting only two hoses were usable and the fire blocked the way aft. Federal probes also focus on a surviving passenger tied to two previous fires on his family property.
