Diphtheria Breaks Out Among Typhoid Patients at Butler
In Butler Pennsylvania on December 2 four deaths and 23 new fever cases were reported. Six new physicians joined the local staff bringing added medical support. Diphtheria appeared among three of 22 feverish children at St Pauls Orphans Home. A doctor and four nurses were assigned to the home. Eight nurses arrived from Cleveland and Philadelphia sent 23 more. Precautions were taken to prevent further spread as relief committees say staff is sufficient for now.
