Movie characters neglect seat belts in films study
Saint Louis University researchers review 198 movies from 1978 to 1996 and find belt use in only about 30 percent of scenes with moving vehicles. Despite real US usage around 70 percent, family and adventure films like Goonies and Honey I Shrunk the Kids show lax safety, with no comment from Washington.
