Vet offers Lyme shot for canines in Frederick County
Dozens of dog owners in Frederick County seek Lyme disease vaccines for pets at local veterinary clinics. Dr Lee Miller reports about 200 signups since offering the vaccine last year, priced at $13, with government license granted after safety and efficacy tests. Fort Dodge Laboratories developed the vaccine, aiming toward a future human Lyme vaccine. Veterinarians note Lyme disease affects dogs more than humans, while uptake remains gradual as owners await long term results.
