Mount Airy Boy Builds Beer Can Wall of Colorful Rarities
Mount Airy sophomore Gary Berg has built an unusual wall display of 250 to 390 beer cans, with 250 on his basement wall and 300 more in storage. His collection features rare and international cans such as Topper Arabic-labeled nonalcoholic malt tonic, National BohemianTriple Crown Winters for the 103rd Preakness, and Player's old can with half the calories. Gary, 15, and his 17-year-old brother Billy, descend from William and Carol Berg, and have traveled to California New York and Pennsylvania collecting cans on trips and from private sellers. He values six Billy Beer cans and Schmidt and Duquesne Bavarian pair, plus blue Tuborg variants. He hopes others join the hobby as swap meets are scarce in Mount Airy.
