Saigon AP reports a sharp fall in North Vietnamese and Viet Cong attacks as three Americans die and nine are wounded near Da Nang. The South Vietnamese command logged 14 enemy incidents in 21 hours, less than a third of the prior day. At Ta Nang ambushes, Americal Division patrols faced fifth attacks in five days. Eight Americans killed, 22 wounded, nine armored vehicles destroyed since last Thursday. The U.S. lifted a weeklong alert restricting troop movement, while local commanders may keep area limits. Anniversaries of North Vietnam’s national day and Ho Chi Minh’s death loom, with heightened attack risk. Elsewhere, U.S. gunships reported 27 enemy killed near Can Tho, and Hue area infantry claimed 13 enemy killed.
