Mental Tests Ordered For Man Charged In Monrovia Kidnap Case
James Edward May age 34 is charged with kidnapping a Monrovia woman and assault and will undergo mental examination at Clifton T. Perkins Hospital in Baltimore to determine fitness for trial. The exam may take four to six weeks. May was arrested Friday after abducting Mrs Martha L Reaver 22 from her mother's home on Ed McClain road near Monrovia with a cap pistol and later fled with another woman Beva ver. State police and local residents conducted a large search aided by helicopters and troopers from several barracks before locating May and Mrs Reaver at a Liberty town farm. May offered no resistance to officers. The victim walked barefoot through fields and woods during the ordeal.
