Rising cropland rents seen as sign of producer strength in Maryland
Maryland officials say higher cropland rents signal strength for farmers and landowners as values rise. Cropland rents averaged 5130 per acre nationwide around 1998, with Delaware leading the Mid Atlantic at 57.50, Maryland near 57.20, and West Virginia at 26.
