At Winchester Hall on August 30 1838 a special Federation of Republican Women meeting drew many women to support Herbert Hoover for president. It was the federation s opening campaign and a big success. The Hagerstown Hubs beat Hanover Raiders 31 Sams led with eight singles Grove allowed several hits. Ackerman delivered the season s best pitching for the Blue Ridge League as Waynesboro Redbirds beat Martinsburg 2 0.

Price Electric tied Rotary 1-1 in the 1858 Babe Ruth Championship playoffs after a six inning game halted by darkness. The final inning was completed the next day. Creagerstown and Walkersville teams planned an exhibition in Walkersville.
