Hunting Creek Lake Dedicated By State
The Maryland Board of Public Works named the west recreation area of Cunningham Falls State Park for the late William M. Houck. Hunting Creek Lake remains the lake name as construction advances on the family camping complex. Open year round, the lake area festevoles include log rolling, canoeing, sack racing and fly casting with free admission and a festival atmosphere. Local groups helped organize events while Thurmont volunteers provided traffic safety. The lake season opener emphasized a final summer weekend to swim and picnic before winter closures.
