Missing Dog Trade Sparks County Debate On Dealers
In Frederick County and beyond a dog dealing trade prompts concern after a Humane Society raid near Burkittsville seized 29 dogs. The Humane Society says dealers buy or steal pets to sell to research centers for 30 to 50 dollars each. Local officials dispute the scope and call for licensing and federal action under Rep. Joseph Resnick's bills to license dog dealers and facilities, with penalties and a five day hold for lost pets.
